ShowcaseSome of us seem to be confused about the definition of Showcase. In dance terms, it's a concert/performance night, mostly involving students in the classes they take here at MUDC, along with some guest performances.
I will be posting a more detailed running order as I have more information about the performances. We will have an interlude of a Salsa dance class in between, along with finger food provided to keep the energy levels up! The floor will be open to dancers for practice at 4.30, and we will discontinue any form of rehearsal at 6pm as our guests come in. Dancers who would like to practice beforehand, make sure you arrive timely! There will be signs at UC directing you to their recreational room; the foyer/sliding doors at the entrance will be open until 7pm, after that post here and we will let you in :) 4.00 pm- rehearsal resumes 6.00- rehearsal discontinues 6.30 pm - Showcase begins Tickets are $10 pre-purchase or $15 on the night. The evening generally finishes ~9.30 pm, if you would like an indication of when we wrap up. Look forward to seeing you all! MUDC AGMIt's the end of another fantastic year for MUDC and now it's time to look forward to next year :)
If you've enjoyed your time with the club, than this is your chance to put your hand up and get involved! We will be electing a brand new committee to take the club through the adventure of 2015 However even if you're not looking to be on the committee, come along anyway and vote on who you want running the club and eat pizza ;) (note: time and place still TBA, but will most likely be from about 5pm onwards on campus) Here's some FAQs about being on the committee: So what does being on the committee involve? The one thing that you would have seen all committee members do at some stage is supervising classes, but that's not all we do! A lot of planning and organisation goes into the timetable, all the socials and all the big events such as camp, dinner dance, showcase, intervarsity. However it is not all work!! Being on the committee is a great way to meet some awesome people and have a heap of fun running a great club, plus if there's something you have always wanted to club to run, this is your chance to make it happen! I'm pretty busy, how much work / time do I need to put in? That really depends on which position you go for. Each position takes a different amount of work. Some are constant throughout the year (such as president and marketing co-ordinator) and others are heavy some times throughout the year and light during others (like secretary or performance co-ordinators). Check out this doc for a breakdown of all the positions:http://goo.gl/RxWepW Ok I think I want to join, what should I go for? That depends a lot on what aspect of the club you’re interested in and how much time you have. If you like organising and managing, then an exec position (pres, vice pres, secretary, treasurer) would be best for you. If you like performances and showing off, then maybe performance co-ordinator. If our socials are float your boat, then try social co-ordinator. If you’re not sure, have a chat to any of the current committee and we can give you some advice. And remember there’s always general committee that just do stuff as required but don’t have a specified job. Again, check out this doc: http://goo.gl/RxWepW So what’s in it for me? (other than awesome fun and meeting great people) The committee keeps the club alive so we take care of you! All the committee gets free entry to all our Socials. We have committee meetings (generally with some sort of food!). And a new incentive coming in next year: All committee members get a FREE semester pass to any BEGINNER level class. Why beginner level? Because we believe that it’s important for our committee to learn many styles of dance and come along to many classes to help everyone feel included, so this is our way of encouraging you to try something NEW. (note: Hip Hop and K Pop count as beginner level) Ok I’m in! What do I have to do? Come along to the AGM and stand for election for any positions you want. If there are any positions that are contested (very likely) then you will have to make a short speech about why you want it and why you think you’d be good. What if I can’t make it to the AGM but still want to be on the committee? No problem at all! Just write something saying which position you want to go for and why you want it and why you think you’d be good, then either hand it to a friend or a committee members to read out at the AGM. If you have any more questions, post below or ask us in class :) |
